Our History
SpiTrex 3D had a humble beginning in 2014, with the founding of Additive Innovations, LLC in Carlsbad, CA by Nick Cordaro. Additive Innovations recognized the coming revolution of additive manufacturing and developed a mission to bring 3D printing to the orthopedic industry to improve patient outcomes with complex osteoconductive lattice structures while reducing lead times and decreasing costs of complex parts.
As one of the first companies to secure customer 510(k)s for orthopedic implants, AdditiveInnovations was acquired by Watershed Idea Foundry, Inc. in 2017, which secured additional funding to grow the manufacturing capabilities. With a proven track record and being uniquely positioned for rapid expansion, SpiTrex Orthopedics acquired the company in 2023, forming SpiTrex 3D. SpiTrex Orthopedics remains committed to advancing the capabilities of 3D, while continuing to quickly grow the bandwidth of the company for our highly valued clients.
A Clear Mission from the Start
With a deep foundation rooted in engineering excellence, sharpened by extensive exposures to surgical procedures, we brought together leading minds in additive manufacturing, design optimization, regulatory and clinical affairs, to optimize production excellence, as demonstrated with quality metrics.
Today, our team excels at a wide range of complex implant and surgical tool projects, with dedication to integrity and strong collaborations. We have never forgotten that the best way to support our customers is through delivering high quality parts, quickly, whether rapid prototypes, V&V units, high volume production, or patient specific devices. As we look ahead, SpiTrex 3D continues to evolve, driven by our founding vision to support our customers in providing innovative 3D-printed medical devices to improve patient lives.
